Wonderfully romantic and evocative of times gone past, we love the beautiful, stately, and truly fairytale Stoke Place…
Nestled in the heart of the countryside, although just 20 miles from London’s city centre, we have fallen madly and passionately in love with the ideal wedding venue, Stoke Place in South Buckinghamshire.
Situated amidst 26 acres of beautifully serene and landscaped parkland (complete with its own lake, no less), Stoke Place is a stunning, grade II listed ,17th-century Queen Anne mansion house. If ‘Quintessentially British’ is your big-day theme, here is the backdrop that will do your photos justice! With all the charm and rural tranquility of a countryside location, Stoke Place nevertheless carries off grand and decadent Country Manor House to a fine art. We love its sumptuous interior – perfect if you’re searching for both an intimate and romantic feel, and if you’re going big! The venue can accommodate weddings of 20 to 200 guests with a beautiful selection of spaces including a stunning Ballroom. And at Stoke Place, there is a real sense that you are looked after properly from start to finish. With no set wedding packages, couples are free to create a tailor-made experience that truly represents their vision of the day. The Ballroom, for example, provides a completely blank canvas for couples to decorate the space to their own colour palette and theme. We also love how the venue only holds one wedding a day and offers Exclusive Use Weddings with private access to the house, function rooms and grounds. Stylish and full of charm in an accessible and appealing way, many of the public rooms have recently been renovated by an interior designer, retaining many of the period features and restoring them to their formal glory. Built in 1690 by Patrick Lamb, the cook for the Kings and Queens of England including Charles II, James II, Mary and Queen Anne, the building has a history of wonderful Royal cuisine, priding itself on its double rosette restaurant on site and exceptional food for weddings. With the option for newlyweds and guests to continue the celebrations throughout the whole weekend, couples can rent out Stoke Place’s beautifully furnished 39 bedrooms – perfect for treating guests to a Champagne breakfast or lazy afternoon barbecue the next day.
